Siestas and Thunderstorms

We're all moved in to our new apartment now! And besides the fact that it doesn't have a bath (I am heartbroken over this), the rest of the place actually far exceeds our expectations. Like, it has bar stools! I've always wanted an apartment with a breakfast bar and barstools! And I am working on creating my very own writing room... More on this later.

I have also re-experienced two things that I missed last year:

1) Spanish Siestas. Or, more specifically, siestas that last for hours, during which the streets are empty, the parks are empty, and it is the most fun to go shopping in the supermarket.

2) Thunderstorms. Yes, I know technically there are thunderstorms in the UK, but not like this. These are really dramatic storms that appear out of nowhere, flooding the cobbled streets and crash directly above you. So lovely and atmospheric when you're inside watching out the window.

When Teaching is Rewarding...

...As it is at the moment, it makes me really happy that I am moving to Spain next month, to teach! The class that I currently have every morning, are over from China and staying at a summer school in Milton Keynes. It is so much fun to teach them English! I love how creative and intelligent these students are - half of them want to grow up to become doctors or engineers. It is inspiring and refreshing... But also extremely exhausting!

I am truly awful at getting up ridiculously early for the commute. I swear it's making my Starbucks addiction worst...

So sorry that I haven't been updating my blog as much as I should have, or visiting yours, I'm crazy busy with all the marking, planning and trying to continue learning Spanish. I plan to write many comments this weekend!

Reason #6 why I miss Michael

He loves the beach, ocean and summer. He proposed to me in the Mediterranean and we're getting married on a beach this year :)

Sookie Style

I have been re-reading/watching True Blood recently, and I just love Sookie Stackhouse's Southern Style. It's so sweet and refreshing in Summer, that it's giving me serious summer dress coveting syndrome. (Yes, this is a real thing).

I love the white and red dress, white headband and little red earrings. She always looks so sweet yet polished!





Another white, floral summer dress. Halterneck this time, paired with more cute earrings.




And, of course, her extra fancy dress, paired with a metallic clutch and more simple jewellery.




Hmm, perhaps it is time to invest in a new summer wardrobe...

Summer Goals

Since I've just got my results back, and have a while to go before I move, I have been thinking about new things to try and do this summer. Here are a few things I came up with. What do you want to do this summer?





Learn a song on the guitar.

Find some new, summery music to listen to, and update my playlists.

Read lots and lots.

Take more photos.

Try new recipes.

Save up enough money to book our flights (for our wedding/honeymoon) early.

Improve my blog, and get more followers.

Get contact lenses.

Summer Dresses

I am currently coveting this summer dress from Dorothy Perkins: 

I think it could be a cool staple for summer. I can wear it with my cowboy boots and a cardigan when it's cooler.

Or make it more beachy with flip flops.

Or dress it up with heels and some vintage jewellery. Which I now have a good selection of, thanks to the generosity of my grandmother.

I think I will go and try it on...
